THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT BY THE FAMILY READINESS COUNCIL

Dear Friends,
As important as it is to Alice, our campaign staff and
me, to get a veteran elected who has lived the issues
soldiers face, it is more important that we support
soldiers and their families. If you cannot
financially support the campaign or volunteer for me,
you can still help soldiers. You can also do both.
The NJ Guard State Family Readiness Council provides
financial grants and other services to our military
personnel. You can donate!

Donations are tax deductible. This is a 501(c)(3) in
which I was a founding "Council" member when I
returned from Iraq in 2004. I learned in Iraq that
reservist soldiers have unique problems active duty
soldiers don't face. So with the foresight of amazing
community leaders, we did something.

Approximately 3,500 NJ Army National Guard soldiers
are deploying this spring. Many of them are doing so
for the second 12-month deployment since 2005. The
"Council" has already awarded $500,000 to those in
need. We intend to raise another $1,000,000 for this
massive deployment where we expect the strain to be
even worse than the first deployment. The economy is
weakening and back-to-back deployments will likely
double the problems experienced throughout the first
deployment. So we hope to be ready for those brave
enough to defend us once, and who remained
sufficiently steadfast to remain in the military and
available to answer a second call.

For example, if you are a LAWYER, you can help with
your ability to talk a spouse through any number of
issues. You don't have to volunteer to be their lawyer,
although that would be great. But when a notice comes
in that confuses a spouse struggling without her
husband/wife who is deployed, it is nice to know you
have someone with whom you can discuss the issues.

Corporations or other offices can adopt a platoon.

ACCOUNTANTS, PLUMBERS, FINANCIAL PLANNERS, everyone
can help in some way if we work together. Let us
prepare for their deployment in our own way as
soldiers and their families face this bruising
experience in their own courageous way.

Freedom isn't free!
